Child & Family Resources,
Inc. is a private, nonprofit, community-based
organization that has made a meaningful contribution to the children
of Southern Arizona since 1970. The mission of the agency is to improve
the well being of Arizona's children and families through programs
that strengthen child care, youth and families. Some of our programs
include: Child Care Resource & Referral-parents can call and
get a list of child care centers; The Center for
Adolescent Parents where teen mothers can earn their high school
diploma or GED while receiving free, on-site child care; KIDLINE-
school age children can call a free hotline for information and a
host of other in-home programs that teach parents better coping skills.
The agency is headquartered in Tucson and provides services in Pima,
Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham, Maricopa and Yuma counties.
Child & Family
Resources has a long history of building community collaborations
that address unmet needs and gaps in social services. The agency
was originally known as The Tucson Association For Child Care in
1970. The goal was to mobilize communities to develop quality child
care options for low-income families. As the agency grew and took
on new challenges, the name was changed to reflect the wider scope
of our programs. Thousands of families are touched each day through
our 30 programs. Services are interrelated and offer a continuum
of prevention and early intervention services to support families.
Child & Family Resources currently employs over 200 people in
seven full-scale offices in Tucson, Phoenix, Yuma, Safford, Sierra
Vista, Douglas and Nogales. Staff members reflect the cultural demographics
of the communities they serve and are residents of those same communities.
The
agency operates a budget of more than 14 million dollars. Ninety
percent of the budget goes towards programs. Administrative costs
are kept to a responsible 10%. The fiscal management of the agency
is sound and meets appropriate standard accounting procedures as
outlined in circular A-122 and A-133, General Accepted Accounting
Principles. An independent audit is conducted each year. Child & Family
Resources is a United Way Agency and was recognized as the Agency
of the Year in 1981. Child & Family Resources is fully accredited
by the nationally recognized Council on Accreditation (COA).
A community-based board of directors actively
governs the programs as set forth in the bylaws of the agency.
The board reflects a cross section of our diverse community. Many
of the board members are parents whose child care needs reflects
those of all working families. These people set the course of the
agency and direct the professional staff so that together the mission
of the agency is served.
Child & Family Resources has made
a significant and lasting impact upon the lives of thousands of
children, youth, parents and providers. Our work reflects community
needs and provides high quality, accessible and affordable programs
to meet those needs. As new and more pressing challenges emerge,
Child & Family Resources has stepped up to
meet them. Helping children, youth and their families without regard
to ethnic or religious background or financial or social status is
the hallmark of our programs.
