CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS:

Arizona Early Intervention Program
(AzEIP) (no cost to families)
AzEIP provides in home assessment, evaluation, and ongoing services to families with children birth to three, who have developmental delays and/or disabilities.  Services are provided in south Phoenix and the southwestern region of Maricopa County.

The P.L.A.Y. Project Home Consultant Program
(fee required)
This program provides training and support for families of young children (18 months to 6 years) with autism and autism spectrum disorders, right in their home. Trained consultants teach parents techniques that are effective, fun, and useful in day-to-day interactions with their child.

FOR FATHERS:

Arizona Center for Responsible Fatherhood
(ACRF) (no cost to fathers)
ACRF promotes good parenting practices and encourages fathers and expectant fathers to become actively involved in their children’s lives. ACRF provides Responsible Parenting and Economic Stability sessions and assists fathers to establish paternity, modify child support orders, and obtain and retain employment. Brochure

FOR TEEN PARENTS:

Choices for Pregnant and Parenting Youth
(no cost to parents)
Parenting education and supportive services offered in home or in school to pregnant and parenting youth ages 14 – 18 in Maricopa County.

Maricopa Center for Adolescent Parents (MCAP)
(no cost to teens)
40 adolescent mothers and 35 of their children served annually.
A comprehensive program offering GED preparation, parenting and life skills education, career exploration, and on-site child care to young mothers ages 16-21and their children. Brochure

  • In the 2008-2009 school year, 31 young mothers participated in MCAP graduation ceremonies.
  • Participants also demonstrated significant improvements in parenting attitudes and life skills.


FOR ALL FAMILIES:

Choices for Families

(No cost to families)
Offers in home family support and parenting education and is designed to help parents reduce stress, enhance family functioning, promote child development and positive parent/child interaction. Services are provided through in home case management, individual and group parenting and life skills classes, and parent/child activity groups, in which there is a strong emphasis on child development including brain development. Choices for Families is open to families who are expecting or parenting children 0-5 years of age and live in north Phoenix. Brochure
