Happy Hours After-School Programs

schools. A summer program is offered at one school site. Before
school and extended programs are available at selected locations.
All sites provide care to children with special needs.
Clerical
Opportunities are always available for clerical assistance to Child & Family
Resources and its programs. Duties include filing, shredding, preparing
mailings, confirming workshop registrations, data entry, etc… Clerical
volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday between
8am-5pm.
Girl Talk/Guy Talk
This prevention program targets early adolescents in various TUSD
and Sunnyside middle schools. Volunteer group facilitators are
responsible for conducting social skills training groups with
adolescent participants (ages 11 - 14) under the supervision
of the Girl Talk/Guy Talk program director. Training is provided.
Holiday Support
Families or businesses can "adopt" a
needy family during the holidays. Child & Family Resources’ client
families need food, games and winter clothing, and most importantly
age-appropriate gifts for their children.
Kidline
Kidline is a program where young people call to talk to caring
volunteer listeners. This free service helps children who may be
home alone, bored, lonely, sad, have a problem, or just want to
talk. Hours are Monday through Friday 3:00 – 8:00 pm on school
days and 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the summer.
Lobster Landing
Every October, the Lobster Landing
fund raiser sells individual lobsters and all-inclusive packages
(with produce, bread, dessert, plates, and lots of extras included).
Customers pick up their purchases in Central and Northwest Tucson.
We need volunteers to be part of the planning committee, help with
sales to local corporations, and assist on the day of the event.
The
Center for Adolescent Parents
Volunteer tutors work with young women who are pregnant or parenting
and have dropped out of school. Tutors assist with basic studies
under the direction of the teacher. Volunteers should have the
desire to work with young people, and understand and interpret
basic reading and math concepts. Also helpful are the ability to
offer encouragement and motivation, and patience in dealing with
different learning styles.
Internship Opportunities
Other opportunities
may also be available for master’s level students.
