Carlos Hernández has served on the Child & Family Resources Board of Directors since 2023. He brings more than 30 years of experience in social work, behavioral health, and nonprofit leadership.
He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF) and previously served as President & CEO of Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona. Throughout his career, he has successfully grown organizational revenue, expanded programs addressing health and mental health needs, and led innovative quality-management initiatives. His leadership experience also includes roles with Child-Parent Centers and Pantano Behavioral Health Services, as well as faculty appointments at Arizona State University, Pima Community College, and Northeastern Illinois University.
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Carlos earned his Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California, a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin.
He is passionate about building healthy, supportive communities and believes that families sometimes need the help of organizations like CFR — “it truly does take a village to help families succeed.”
Outside of work, Carlos enjoys riding motorcycles.
