Ms. Nottingham has called Tucson home for over 45 years. She had a lengthy career with the City of Tucson, serving as its Community Services Director, responsible for Housing, Community Development and Social Service programs. In addition, she was an adjunct lecturer at the UA Planning Department and worked as a consultant across the nation. She is now happily retired.
Emily first learned about CFR over 40 years ago, when she was seeking childcare. She loved the babysitter that she was connected with. Over the years she came to know the organization as a great community partner in their shared work to improve the lives of Tucsonans.
She has served on many community boards, including the City of Tucson Industrial Development Authority, State Housing Commission, National Community Development Association, and others. Her favorite, of course, is CFR, where she has served for two years.
Her education included a BA in English with Honors from Indiana University, MA in Corporate and Political Communication from Fairfield University, and PhD in Mass Communications from Indiana University.
She is the proud mother of two children: Ben, who lives in Boston where she summers, and Gabe (also a CFR Board member) who was killed in the Tucson mass shooting in 2011. That incident reminded her how important it is to keep our children healthy and safe.
She loves Tucson and hopes to help keep it a kind and beautiful place.
