Prevention Programs for Youth

Mental Health

The Mental Health Matters program increases awareness and understanding of mental health by offering Youth Mental Health First Aid and Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings. These evidence-based curricula teach participants how to identify the signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders, and how to respond effectively when someone is in need.

By building these skills, the program helps break down stigma, empowers individuals to take supportive action, and strengthens community capacity to promote mental well-being for both youth and adults.

Note: Funding for this program is provided at no cost to clients thanks to funding from grants and donations.

“This training has helped with my perspective on the youth and what they could be dealing with outside of our community recreation center and has already helped me while I interact with them.”

“Thank you for the very informative trainings, I feel more equipped and comfortable to handle mental health situations with my youth and in my community. This is so important to my heart as I see and work with youth that have since Covid started, suffering with their mental health challenges. We need more education for the community like this!”
