Fist in the air

As an antiracist organization Child & Family Resources amplifies the sentiment of State Representative Randy Friese.

“Yesterday Minnesota Jury found Derek Chauvin guilty on all charges in the murder of George Floyd. This was the right verdict, and I hope it can provide some measure of comfort to George Floyd’s family and loved ones. George Floyd’s murder shook our country to its core and shined a light on the centuries-old problem of systemic racism in America. While holding Derek Chauvin accountable will not bring back George Floyd or any of the other Black men, women, and children who have been killed at the hands of law enforcement it is an important step toward a more equitable future. Every American deserves to live safely without fear of harassment, discrimination, or death. Now is the time for lawmakers to take action and pass legislation aimed at holding public safety officers accountable for their actions, increasing transparency with the public, and improved training on de-escalation and cultural sensitivity. Lawmakers must ensure that everyone in our country enjoys equal protection under the law. Black lives matter. It’s past time for our justice system to reflect that.”

CFR is committed to moving forward with our journey through Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and we are committed to working on dismantling racism as systemic oppression.

We build strong communities where children can reach their full potential
